LC Results On CV To Avoid Gaps?

    Hello,

I left school after the JC and done some courses to see what I was interested in before returning to do my LC and then onto College. In total it was 2.5 years out. The courses contain relevant information towards the jobs I am applying for but from research I seen a lot of places are saying to avoid putting LC results on the CV. However they are also advising to not leave gaps in your CV. What are your opinions on this? I'm thinking of just putting it down on 1 line so it's not taking up too much space and quickly fills in the gap but I don't want to be overlooked.

    Thanks!

I have never put my leaving cert results on my CV and I don't really see the point to be honest. I think actually showing that you done the leaving cert is the important thing and the fact that you actually went back to do it may even be a credit to you in the eyes of some employers.
The courses that you have done relevant to the job are more important than the leaving cert so do as you suggested and just put it in as a one liner.

Results no, points maybe if there any good, otherwise leave them out.
There shouldn't be really any gap in your CV because of the courses you did which should be included on your CV.

    Date of completion:

"May. 2014, Leaving Certificate, Fake High School, 370 points"

Simple one liner should be fine

i always wonder why people put points on their CV's...

if your a kid yes okay fair enough well done you put the head down and got 500 points... and your proud.

but you should be putting stuff on a CV that impresses readers, i dont think ive ever been impressed by it but thats just me.

it can be read a few ways,

1: you think the leaving cert matters and what points you get matters, in which case if your an adult it can show a lack of self awareness ie: your ability to learn off essays and regurgitate stuff in the real world isnt as impressive as you might think.

2: you put alot of emphasis on results that alot of the country deems irrelevant

3: you are really proud of them because it wasnt the norm to complete in your environment.

4: you havnt progressed from the LC.
