C1 driving lessons

Anybody have any idea where driving lessons for C1 category can be done in Dublin or surrounding areas.

I know many will advise to just do C lessons as they are more readily available and cover more vehicles.

My daughter passed her C theory test.

    * As she is 19 she can do C1 lessons immediately, if available, after getting her learner permit.

    * If she wishes to do C lessons she cannot immediately apply for her learner permit - she needs to now do the CPC stage 2 tests (as she is under 21) before applying for her learner permit.

As she hopes to get a job as a paramedic which requires a C1 licence only she wishes to just do this category - she can never see herself needing or using a larger C rigid truck licence.

Any schools around Dublin providing vehicle & lessons for C1 category?

I was looking for this also.
From ringing up different schools, unfortunately there are no C1 lessons in Dublin. The closest would be in Naas. After that there's none nowhere near Dublin.

Yes we found the same - C! only available in Limerick, Naas & Galway.

Surprising that none of the driving schools in Dublin have not tapped into this market - they would have a monopoly with camper van drivers, small goods vehicles drivers & people training to be paramedics.

They could advertise their niche in all the camping shops, paramedic training institutes etc. and have a ready market availing of their service.

the market for c1 is tiny, the driving schools are teaching drivers who want to drive professionally and professional drivers dont want to be limiting themselves to a very small truck.

When I was training as an EMT a few years back a lot of the class were looking at doing the C1 test, I did explain to them that the C licence could be more beneficial to them regarding other career options while waiting for the likes of the DFB/NAS to recruit.
Also the costs involved wouldn't be that much between the C1 & C.

A driving school who do C1 lessons appear to be difficult to locate. I did my C test in Naas many years ago, wasnt aware that C1 lessons were (now) available there.

The only actual C1 driving school vehicle I have seen (in the flesh) was parked up (static advertising) in Salthill in Galway.

Perhaps your daughter could book a block of lessons in Galway and combine it with a weekend(s) away. Alternatively, Naas is only a 20 minute drive from Dublin (I did 5-hour round-trips to Athlone to do C+E lessons (and test) in 2014)
