    Hi all

I was wondering if I could use the mind hive that is boards.ie and ask a question. Basically, I am 27 and have been in a field for awhile now. I have gone as far as I can in my current role and am growing a bit tired/bored of it.

I want to move careers and actually help people rather than just take their money! I wanted to do medicine when I was a kid but that never happened. I don't have the money or the energy to go back and do a 3-4 year full time degree but I'd love to some how be involved in the medical field in some shape or form. Basically this is kinda what I want to do:

    - Help people in a very straight forward way
    - Happy to do further training but either part-time over two years or one year full time
    - Get a good salary for it and have opportunities to grow

I was thinking of fire brigade for awhile or paramedic (though i know DFB are dually trained) but I don't think either of those roles are for me. I looked into them and I just don't think I'd have the stamina for it! I was considering nursing as well but again I don't want to go back to college for an extended period of time. I was also looking at counselling but it just seems so unregulated and dodgy in terms of career prospects.

Does anyone have a clue what I should do with my life??! I'm good with people, I learn quickly (so say us all!!) and get stuck into things when I can.

    Thanks guys
    R

Write a list of your hobbies and then try find a job the is based around or has elements of a hobby. Find somebody to pay you for doing something you love and you'll never 'work' a day in your life.

You could maybe try volunteering with the civil defence/order of Malta/st. Johns ambulance?

Outside the net but maybe the Garda reserves?

Before giving up your current career try as above poster has said volunteering, try Special Olympics there is great job satisfaction in helping out there!
If you like it enough you may base a career around i!

Before you make the decision to definitely not give long term study a go, just remember that at your age, you potentially have another 35 years work ahead of you.
Also I'm presuming that you don't have kids or huge commitments. Not saying you should go back to a long course, but just don't rule.it out because "3-4 years is ages" :)
