Does anyone do this anymore? Have the fathers of the bride and groom in similar suits to the groomsmen? Haven't noticed at the last few weddings I've been to....or do they just sort themselves out?

Depends on the person I think. When I got married we had my Dad and my FIL in the same suits as the groomsmen. Both the dads were happy with that. I have been to weddings where the dads just wore normal suits. And one where the father of the bride was in the same suit as the groomsmen, but the groom's father was incredibly shy, and felt more comfortable wearing his own suit and not being in the "wedding party" so to speak.

Go with whatever you guys are more comfortable with.

Our dads were in the same suits as the groomsmen out of handiness for all. Myself and OH and the groomsmen went to the suit hire shop initially. I just want to show pics of bridesmaid colours, and wasnt bothered what they chose to wear in the end. The dads liked the fact that stuff was chosen and they could just wander in and get fitted for that whenever they liked. This was 2 years ago.

Thanks guys, I think I'll just see what they both want to do, my oh has never heard of it and was a bit sceptical but to be honest, he hadn't heard of a lot of things to do with weddings before we started planning!

Our fathers are very different sizes from each other. Also, we picked a modern, slim-fit suit for our groomsmen which neither of our fathers would have liked wearing. So we told our dads what colour the groomsmen suits were, and asked if they would be comfortable wearing one of their own suits in a similar colour. They were both perfectly happy with that, and we gave them both gifts of the same ties and cufflinks as the groomsmen had, so they still blended in :)

That's a great idea Faith! I hadn't thought of that....don't think either father would be comfortable in a slim fit....I'll have to see what himself decides on when he finally gets his arse in gear to look at suits!
