Do you have health insurance ?

How many have health insurance ?

Me and my family don't and never have. I was looking for quotes today, and on the basic plan the cheapest is 1200 P/Y and the dearest is 2300 P/Y. Me on just my own the most basic is 300 P/Y which is still expensive.

I think this is pretty excessive for something that most likely won't happen.

    lol, expensive

Health insurance is mandatory where I live, I've one of the cheapest basic plans, costs 500 per month and I have to cover the first 600 or 700 of medical costs per annum before I can even use it. The kids are a few hundred each extra per month on top of that

    Cheap beer though.

    That trumps everything.

Yeah, used to think that before I developed MS. The public system is very limited in the number of people it will pay for with the treatment I need. It costs €2,500 per month .

No as I am in NI but I would struggle to pay if I did end up in the South, but would just have to find a way due to ill health being common for me.

Yes, work pays for it. Well, I do pay BIK. But I think it's worth it.

Was listening to a show on Newstalk a few weeks ago.
It seems all of the plans from the middle price range down arent worth it.
You would be far better without it.

Luckily my employer pays it for us. Our premium is close on 4K for the plan we're on (2 adults and 2 children). I'd hate to be without it so it's one thing that's keeps me from leaving my job!

I like to live dangerously, no fancy medical insurance here.

No need for "health insurance". Surest way to good health is to throw your television set into the dump. You won't have to pay the TV licence either

Only have it because I was forced into it by a ridiculous meddling government. Waited until the day before I turned 35 to get it but don't feel I get any benefit. Haven't been in a hospital since I was born apart from visiting others. Hopefully it stays this way.

Nobody is in a hospital until the day they are in a hospital :)

Some "Hospitals" in this country couldn't find a cancer cell in a person if they were riddled with the $hit and feeding the health insurance racket on top of it.

I have it and make it my business to get value for money :pac:

    Lol. Jk.

I have health insurance, and have had it since I was a kid. I have, unfortunately, had to use it quite a bit between emergency hospital trips/admissions, going private to see consultants (& avoiding the 2 year wait publically), and cover for MRIs, X-rays and surgery.

It's expensive but I wouldn't be without it. I had fairly significant damage to my shoulder that required surgery to fix. My shoulder would dislocate maybe 6 or 7 times a day. There was a 18 month wait to see an orthopaedic surgeon publically. Privately I was seen within 4 weeks, had the first procedure after 6, and was fully discharged within about 8 months.

I don't tend to claim back things like consultant fees or physio fees or whatever. For that I just pay and be thankful that I can afford it.

Both my wife and I require treatment for a medical (nothing too serious not treatment required in any event), it costs in total €6000 per month. I am glad I have it. Treatment impossible to get on the public system

Company pays for myself, spouse and dependants. Saves significant $$$ for some. One of the better plans where I live too, thankfully.

I spend most of my time in the UK and Europe so a European Health Insurance Card works best for me.

Have it through work. It has come in useful when I needed something that would have required a long wait on the NHS.

    Which hospitals are those? :)

Good laugh reading posts here from people so confident they could never possibly get ill: I spend my money instead on staying healthy; getting rid of the TV will ward off illness... and my favourite: since I started paying health insurance I don't feel any benefit as I haven't been to hospital yet.

    Top notch, keep it up.
