This has just happened to me when I went out to start the car.
Can I still drive to the nearest town to get brake fluid or is it dangerous to drive with this on?
    Thanks in advance

You sure it's for low brake fluid that the warning light is? Could it be one of the brake lights has blown, did you check them?

Thanks for replying. Both brake lights working fine.

I presume the centre one was working too? Did you check the level of brake fluid to see where it's at?

The centre brake light is also working. Level of brake fluid is fine too.
When I initially went to start the car and the alarm happened I opened the bonnet to find a kitten from my parents home (around an hour drive from here).Got a dreadful fright. Had driven from there last night. She maybe has interfered with the little sensor wires that are on the cap of the brake fluid tank?

If the level is ok & the brakes works fine then look to the sensor or the wiring leading to it.

Thanks, I've been driving it for the past two days and apart from the flashing light on the dashboard and the alarm beeping it is travelling fine.
I'll bring it in on Tuesday for a check-up.

OP here. Just an update. The brake piston seal had ruptured. Guess it goes to show that it is important to follow up on those dashboard alarms and flashing lights. All is well again :)
