Frustration at poorly handled insurance renewal

Was sent out my insurance renewal only about 10 days before renewal after calling them multiple times. Was told liberty was my best available quote at 2930. Even though there was a renewal notice from Kennco(My insurer of the previous two years) for 2380. I called them a number of occasions saying I had a renewal notice from Kennco for 2380 only to be dismissed that I was incorrect and that they had pulled the product they were offering etc etc(that there werent offering Kennco unique anymore which has a 500 excess but having checked their website this is the standard excess). Called yesterday to be told axa were offering 2615 again mentioned kennco offer which I was told was non existent. Called back a few hours later and mentioned the kennco offer again to be told the agent had found it. I had to take this price as my insurance was up that night. Very frustrating experience and feel I surely could have got the kennco offer down. Deposit paid for but apart from a complaint where can I go from here?

Id suggest you lodge a complaint with the FSO.

The company are in breach of compliance, law states that a customers renewal notice must be issued at least 4 weeks prior to renewal date.

The only time this doesnt apply is if they are waiting from documents from the customer such a a manual proposal form, proof of NCT etc but even at that, they are legally obliged to write to you to tell you what is missing.

You have a 14 day cooling off period to cancel the insurance (if its a broker they will probably apply their admin fee) so if you can get a cheaper price elsewhere yourself then you can go with that.

My issue is more with the denial of the cheaper renewal on numerous occasions, I was told it was non existent although I had the paperwork if front of me. And when it was finally admitted I had to take it with getting the price down as my insurance was due to expire that night. I should have sent written correspondence with a copy of the renewal notice but with the delay at receiving the renewal quote I didn't. I have had a previous claim hence the high price but it is still an increase of over 800e from last year and a 1 year ncb
