Eir say no line fault but second modem not working

    Hi folks,

    Vodafone fibre broadband down for the last week. Can't establish a DSL connection on Vodafone stock Huawei 658G modem/router. Device reset, wiring checked etc.

    The 'link' light is intermittent and the 'internet' night is out.

    Eir tech came out today to sort out the presumed line fault - nada. Connection up to socket perfect rock, rock solid. Said it was the crappy VF routers.

    So called VF and now they want to charge me to replace their faulty device. Got a Zyxel D1000 modem off a neighbour to test but that can't get a DSL connection either. Have gone in and changed the settings as per the Vodafone support page for third party devices. But nothing. The DSL light doesn't even light up.

    Any advice here what should I do?

    The Zyxel D1000 is an ADSL router. Vodafone fibre is a VDSL service. They're not compatible.
