Car buying

Hi all, just looking for a bit of advice, I am buying a Hyundai car from a Peugeot dealership. The car has 5 yr manufacturers warrantee, and the garage have said they will liase with their local Hyundai dealership if any problems arise.
At the moment, the car manual and service record are missing. The garage I'm buying from have done the most recent service on the car. They are trying to contact the previous owner to get their hands on the record. But he is offering to let me take the car away.
I'm just not sure where I stand if settle the bill drive away from the garage without the service record, as they are not providing the warrantee themselves. Hyundai require servicing every 2 years/30000km for the manufacturers warrantee to remain valid. Any advice on how to handle it?

Contact Hyundai and query for the service history.

If the garage are not actually offering any warranty on it but rather instead relying on the manufacturer's warranty then why not buy a similar car privately for much cheaper? You will still be covered by the remaining Hyundai warranty.
