My luddite, job hunting brother needs something for sending out CVs. He wants a smartphone but the problem is can't see why he should spend big since his needs are so basic. Does anyone have any suggestions for something around the €100-150 mark?

Best I can do is the Wileyfox Swift that I notice is a best seller on Amazon. Would be grateful for any help.

The Vodafone Smart range are very good, just don't go for the lowest spec

Let him get the cheapest piece of shyte he can find first time then he'll be back to you with a bigger budget next time and will take your advise. I had the very same issue with my brother, "sure I don't need a better screen" the only way to prove I was right was to let him off to get a horrible experience :p

Buy from anyone but gearbest. If anything over goes wrong, you'll be sorry. They have absolutely no customer service, as you can see by their forum here.

  • No need to convince me mate. I've dealt with GearBest before and I go out of my way to not have to do so again.Still handy to browse their website and see which phones are popular and well reviewed though. I notice the absurdly named Homtom devices are quite popular both on GB and Aliexpress.

At the moment my shortlist is:

    Smart Ultra 6
    Wileyfox Swift
    Moto G
    Homtom HT7.
