Any tips on finding dog friendly rental in Co Galway?

We're trying to move from Dublin to Galway with our dog and are having a pretty hard time - lots of "no pets" rules as we expected, but we thought we'd have found something by now! Even when we offer an extra deposit it's been a no :( we're low income too, so that limits us even more.

We've been using Daft, and very little comes up in "pet friendly" in the last four months or so. We've also tried Gumtree and DoneDeal, but they're next to useless it seems. Anyone know of any other resources?

Is it worth it to put up wanted ads? I put one up on Daft a few years ago and just got a couple Airbnb Scammers.

Unfortunately we don't know anybody in Galway so we have nobody to ask.

Have you tried posting in the Galway thread? Maybe some locals know of some non-daft.ie resources?

It really grates on me that people put up barriers with Pet owners. We have 2 huskies in a relatively modest house and it's spotless. Dogs are in all the time, well trained and we keep on top of the hair.

    Such narrow mindedness

Best of luck with your search OP

I had the same issue on my last two moves and found properties once I looked a little further afield. Both were through letting agents and neither were advertised as pet friendly.
I'd recommend looking at rural(ish) locations or small villages/towns if you can, and speak to local letting agents there, they might have a property on their books that isn't officially pet friendly but they know the landlord would accept pets. Or find a preferred area and visit the local shops one weekend if you can, people often stick up 'for rent' notices there, you could also put up a property wanted notice yourself there and see what comes up.

    Good luck in your search.

My friend lives outside headford in a lovely little old house, she has two dogs, she had no problems out in the countryside
