Can a Gear S2 watch get missed call info over WiFi?

My wife just lost her Galaxy S6. As we were searching for it (at home) she received missed call notifications to her Gear S2 smartwatch. So, if we know the phone only receives notifications over Bluetooth, we know it's in the house somewhere. Otherwise the phone, at some remote location, sent the missed call notification…

So, if we know the phone only receives notifications over Bluetooth, we know it's in the house somewhere.

Otherwise the phone, at some remote location, sent the missed call notification over cellular data and the watch picked those up when it connected to the WiFi.

We obviously hope it's the former, so can anyone confirm shed light:

Can an S2 smartwatch pick up missed call notifications via WiFi, or must it be connected via Bluetooth?

Just found the answer in the manual - yes indeed it does transit notifications over WiFi
