Well, long story short, my renewal letter seems to have gone missing. It took me a while to get axa to send me out another for free (they were initially charging €35).

So i finally got it and sent it off in the post to AA. I emailed yesterday asking for confirmation that they had received it. I got a reply today saying they had received a copy but the original would be needed to avoid my insurance being cancelled.

I replied saying that axa had sent this copy to me and I haven't heard back yet.

I plan to ring tomorrow but what happens if i cant find the original? Is there anything I can do?

Yes, they all usually want the original.

    Thanks for your reply.

I'm going to have another search for the original.

If I dot find it will my insurance be cancelled or is there some way around this?

The policy will go for cancellation 21 days after the inception date if the original NCB isn't received, you would usually get another week then from the underwriter after they let you know by registered letter that it will be cancelled. So unless it's gone on for a while you should have enough time to get it sorted.

    Thank you ASOT

I have just been on to the AA. They have told me I must get onto the Broker and request the underwriter make a new copy. Does anyone know how much this will cost? I have until the 5th of August before they send out a notice of cancellation.

    What a balls!

It would depend on the underwriter, iv heard of charges from 8e up to 35e it's a pain in the arse from a consumer and employees point of view. Hopefully it will all be by email soon enough it would make things easier, but you'd be surprised at the amount of fake bonuses that still come on by paper.
