Looks like Horgans Quay is finally going to go ahead. The new enterance to Kent station is almost complete, it will be great if some thing is done with this site after all the false starts during the boom years.
We could also see freight trains from Marino point again if the devolpment there goes ahead too.

'A lot of container traffic is transported from Marino Point using the rail connection, and there will undoubtably be more HGV traffic generated at Belvelly and the Fota Rd.'

Am I missing something here or is this just typical lazy reporting?

    Also this:-
A special bulk ammonia train ran to IFI Marino Point and to Arklow until the 1980s.

No, about as lazy as it gets, there is another article about it in the paper where it is stated the Marino Point is rail connected.
The paper is called "the penny liar" for nothing.

It just reflects the general dumbing down of the media (not just printed media) nowadays.
    Copy/paste journalism.

It's probably all a stalking horse to get a new bridge and if they get it, you can bet your boots any traffic will go by road.
