external insulation question

    Hi.

Anyone got opinions of using external insulation on an exposed site on the west coast. Site right on the beach with the usual west of Ireland weather load. Lots of salt in the air as you can imagine. Current wall makeup is twin leaf cavity wall (I'd say 7mm - 100mm cavity) with loose white bead insulation.

Are there any worries about using external insulation on such a site.

I assume some sort of render is used as opposed to a sand/cement finish.

Best to Go straight to the better manufacturers and get guidance from them. This is not an installers or specifiers question. IMO it's a question of wind loads and product guarantees (1 point material & installed guarentee) you should expect to pay a premium for this exposed scenario

    As per Brian,
with the following conceptual idea to think about.
There are EWI solutions out there where the outer layer is a rain screen, e.g. rendered cement board, with a ventilated space behind it.

It MAY be more suitable in your case rather than the typical EWI solution, however in a retro may be even more problematic around doors and windows, than traditional EWI
