Not sure why i cant post this in the soccer so no doubt this thread attempt will decend into farce but here goes! For the soccer fans here, i dunno if anyone caught the Football365 article today with the 15 most expensive players of all time in terms of cumulative transfer fees? i wasnt surprised to see Robbie there but what got my attention was how down on Robbie the piece on Robbie was! They made reference to him being the 2nd most expensive player in Britain and Ireland in a jokey way not to mention how hilarious his transfer fee to liverpool was....this kind of $hit really annoys me (well not really but you know what i mean...)... they conveniently forgot to mention that he's also the highest international scorer of all time between ireland and britain by some distance and the way wayne rooney is going, i cant see him threatening that any time soon......and here's the most interesting stat on robbie, he was actually the highest scorer in the premier league for the calendar year of 2007 which if memory serves me correctly straddled ronaldo's crazy season of goalscoring. So his transfer fee to liverpool wasnt so crazy afterall...sure liverpool didnt work out but the ridiculing of the transfer is revisionism......

I wouldnt mind but for every irish supporter who thinks he's legend, there's one that thinks he $hite...i just dont get it....the guy is 5th on the all time european list and before anyone makes reference to his rate of scoring, think of the quality of the teams he has been in and the fact that we were consistantly 3rd or 4th seeds for qualifying groups so always had much stronger teams in our groups relative to our standard. all his contemporaries played against the same quality of $hit teams that robbie did to prop up his stats so thats nothing to do with it. plus i remember they did a comparison of klose and robbies stats and found that robbie had scored against as many top teams as klose down the years. his job was (i think hes done for ireland so past tense unfortunately) to score goals and until recently he did that better than anyone of his generation on the international stage bar Klose....

I really dont understand why he divides opinion as much as he does....the other keano probably divides opinions as much but where's robbie's saipan???

Anyway just thought i'd throw this one out there....no doubt there plenty of "why do people hate robbie so much?" threads out there but i just had to get it off my chest !
