Nexus 9 gets very hot - normal?

I had been wanting a Nexus 9 for months but full price was a bit too much so I got a refurbished one from the Argos outlet. Had it a few weeks when problems started, it was getting very hot on the half where the camera is. Then it got stuck completely at start up on the Google animation so I had to do a hard factory reset and even after that it produced a lovely image of putple lines which faded away to black so I promptly returned it. Thought I'd give them a second chance so I got another one, arrived today and it too is getting very hot. It's on charge and I'm downloading all my apps, not doing anything else and I can feel the heat radiating from the top half of the screen.

So is this normal enough or do I have another dud? Would appreciate any advice or views from Nexus 9 owners. :)

Mine would get quite warm in that area if installing a load of updates, watching videos over a long time or playing games. But it's only hot under load.

If yours is permanently very hot, I would say something is wrong. Is it only hot when under load?

Thanks moleyv , been using it for the last hour and it seems to be too hot just browsing using Chrome. I used one of those point and press thermometers and it's showing 40 C. Then it froze giving a bright white screen. Would reboot but the same thing keeps happening. Will have to send this one back too. I know refurbs are a risk but I'm so disappointed. :(

I haven't measured the temp on mine, but I suppose when it is under very heavy load, it might get close to 40.

Web browsing wouldn't make mine that hot, maybe a little warm.

But the fact you are having freezes and reboots too shows there is something else underlying that is wrong.
