Hi there. I have a long extension cable that I would like to get out of the way by attaching it to the wall using some kind of fixing. I need it to go around the top of the door and around the room so will need to fix it every couple of inches. What is the best way to do this?

    thank you!

Would of thought some kind of tack, bit like a staple but thicker?Depends what size cable it is I suppose.

You could always recess into wall but that would be a bigger job, if you don't mind the look of the tacks then this would be quick and simple to do.

It is an extension cable. just normal thickness.

Then tacks would be fine, make sure to go as tight to skirting board as possible

It it's indoors and not subjected to real cold, then I'd say hot glue it.
Works great and if you do it neatly, only the cable will be visible not the glue. Won't put holes in the wall either

I use varients of this: http://www.diy.com/departments/d-line-self-extinguishing-pvc-white-trunking/211942_BQ.prd

They come in many different sizes and shapes etc. Very good and blends in nicely. Can be placed in corners or ran along skirting to blend in. Can be painted over too.

A good few options there, plenty to pick from.

If you don't want to use trunking, get some white extension cable, run it under your ceiling trim, and use a small dab of superglue every 12 inches. Sticks well and no need for cable clips and very discreet.

Probably a bit late but from another of your posts
We moved into a rented detached house a few months ago

Before you do anything permanent check with your landlord.
