Have an owl in and around my garden and the fields around me for nearly the past week. I think from the call it's a barn owl. I did get a look at it as it circled my house a couple of times fairly low but with the poor light it was difficult to see the exact coloring.
No chance of a picture but i did get some good audio recordings.:)
They're a noisy fecker and it can go on for hours:(
    Not that I'm complaining.

Pretty cool to have them though, I'd love to see one! :)

Could be a long eared Owl...the juveniles can make a racket when out of the nest

Yes, could be. Neighbour across the fields thinks there's an adult and a young one although I think only one has been around my place. It doesn't seem too fazed by my presence.

Any chance we could hear the audio?

I could put it up on zippyshare or another site you suggest.

I've uploaded a small clip here
    http://www42.zippyshare.com/v/ekhMNHb5/file.html

Zippyshare seems to be riddled with adware but it works ok for me with ad blockers.

Quite distinctive call. Scare the living jaysus out of ya on a dark night.

Great audio, could it be a young Long Eared owl calling for food?

It was flying a lot of the time between 3 fields while calling. I'm guessing it was hunting.

Yea that is a long eared owl chick. The call is sometimes described as a squeeky gate.
