Some advice needed please, before I go ringing the travel agency to try and fix this.

We booked three nights in Scotland, three times we asked what was the cheaper room and three times we were told it was smaller and the bigger room was €90 more, also shown pictures of rooms on site.

We then looked @ reviews and seen about a lack of lifts and windows, so emailed the hotel ourselves

They told us the room that we were booked into had no windows and if we wanted to upgrade they would do a deal of £40 a night. Also that the information about room was on their site.

So from nothing about no windows and only being smaller with upgrade too bigger for €90
    To
No windows, and lets round it to €150

What would be the best action to look for off the travel agency?
    Thanks for any help

Just looked up the hotel and according to the paperwork from travel agency they sold us a room that doesn't exist on the hotel room list, the nearest room I can find clearly says no view in the description as well

Ring them and explain the situation, they may rebook the other room. Out of interest why did you use a travel agent if you had ways to access this information?

I will thanks, but wont pay €90 more on a €550 three night B&B plane and luggage deal to have a window

In-case stuff like this happens, the same when we went to see a Liverpool game, yes it costs more but the piece of mind someone has experience in doing it and nothing should go wrong

Those of us who booked with low cost holidays said the same thing....and puff they were gone!

Its enough to put you off using travel agents and figure out how to do it yourself

To be honest it may not be the travel agents fault it may be a property they do not usually sell. (no comfort to you)
It is likely that the agency booked through a hotel wholesaler and not direct with the hotel and so the agency can only go on the data given to them by their supplier.
If you voice your concerns they should be able to accommodate you.

I was told by the hotel they tell their agents the room conditions, then the travel agency told me they can only go what they are told. A bit of he says she says, but as I said they should know the product they are selling, or ring hotel to be sure before people hand over hundreds.

In the end the manager of the travel agency agreed to upgrade me for free to a room with windows, I wouldn’t really call having windows an upgrade, but fair play to them doing so and taking the hit on the cost

Hence why I would expect them to be included as standard.

Very true. I know some hotels have basement rooms but still.. you'd expect a window! :D

Yeah the brother said the same about basement rooms.

On this hotel website some of the rooms have windows like you'd see on a ship, any window is better than no window

The outcome I would have expected in fairness.
Christ though could you imagine if you had booked online and not known and then got there with no windows I would've gone nutso. At least you had someone to call and sort it for you.

I was working in Manchester once and got put into a room with no windows, I wasn't long in demanding to get moved.

I've had never seen a bedroom with no windows before . I seriously doubt it's legal
