Update failed - phone won't restart

Hi all

I have a Honor 7 which has told me over recent months that I have an update available. Problem is that this doesn't install - the phone eventually shuts down and boots to the start up screen "Honor - powered by Android" and goes no further.
I plug it into a pc, hold vol down + power button and get into the "Fastboot & Rescue mode". It mentions something here about holding vol down + function key, and also opening Hisuite but doing both of these don't get me any further.

In the past I have managed to get the phone restarted (although not with the updated software) through a random combination of pressing various buttons for random periods of time, however this time I can't seem to get it to work?

Any ideas how I can force it to start it up now?

Basically it's a brick now, are you overly pressed on keeping the info in the phone or would you be fine with restoring it back to factory?

Actually - success - I got into recovery mode (vol up + power) and was able to reboot from there.

At least I have the phone back working. I don't know why it doesn't like the latest update and won't install it. I'll have to make do with the existing version.

Have you rooted the phone or made any modifications?
If so, that's why it won't update.

If not, try delete the downloaded update data, and try again.
