i've an auld Minoura 500 Mag which is around 11 years old. Still works fine but it's fairly heavy and probably not as quiet as some as the newer models.

are there any 2015 or 2016 models worth looking into for a realistic but quiet ride. doubt i'll need a smart trainer so the regular fluid ones will do. Hoping not to go over 150 euros but might that be a stretch?

can I ask are there any quiet magnetic ones about or do you have to go fluid for this? Im in an apartment so need something with little noise

Fluid are resonably more quiet than mags but road feel is great. Elastogel from Elite and Kurt Kinetic are quiet enough to make session with sleeping toddler beside. Quietest ever tried was Muin period. I presume that tyre affect noise level as well.

Old model muin was back on the halfords website last week (haven't checked since) - works out at 330 with axa discount. Only difference afaik is the external sensor/ lack of sensor housing, but you can stick the elite Bluetooth/ ant+ sensor to it according to the net.

Pulled the trigger, but haven't set it up yet (has to be quieter than my bottom end elite mag one) at the very least.

Found a nice balance with one of these quiet and works with zwift/trainer road etc.

Works out around €145 with axa discount

I picked up one of these also and it does actually make a difference to the noise levels. I used to use an old gatorskin
