Hi, I have the brand new Public service card from the DSP. I have gone through the process of SAFE registration appointment getting the new Public service card such as going in the local DSP getting photo and signature taken. But my public service card is expired now and I am just wondering what I have to do now as it has expired and I have read the DSP website regarding the Public service card but I can’t see anything about what do when it is expired. I am just wondering has anyone any idea of what to do in this situation. As I need to get a new card as soon as possible.

Roll out of these cards only started around 2012. Puzzling that they gave you one valid for only four years.

Anyway, best to phone the number given for lost cards etc.:

If your Public Services Card is lost, stolen or damaged, you should immediately contact the Public Services Card Helpdesk at 1890 837000.http://www.welfare.ie/en/Pages/Public-Services-Card_holder.aspx

I am over 18 now that why it was only given for 4 years because was under 18. I just wondering what to do as it is expired and I need to get a new one. Does anyone have any other information rather than ringing them up and getting transferred 20 times. Like personal experience.

Make an appointment at your local social welfare office for a renewal. They take a new photo and signature and check for any other changes.

    Thats it. Done.

Getting in touch with these people is frustrating. The number rings forever interupted (lots) by a message ..thanks for holding....
If you write a letter no replies.
When they do write (ignoring any previous comms we have tried) its with another appointment for someone studying abroad!!
On a previous appt when we did turn up the gentleman (:pac:) refused to see us. Seems to me there is problems in good old fashioned communications.
Forget letters, the number they give is not answered, and then when you do travel to an appt they can ( and DID:eek:) close the door in your face.
