Been browsing Amazon but clueless as to what is a good brand to get. Intend drilling some light metal, wood and plaster for putting up shelves etc. Cheers

Personally I think the sets are a waste of money unless you plan on doing lots of different things. There will be bits in the set you'll never need and bits you'll need a few the same.

Whether I drill a wall, tiles etc I use a 6mm Bosch drill bit. I use red plugs with this. Only you know what you will be drilling but I'm betting all you need are 3 or 4 different bits. You can always add to these as you need them.

Go to the likes of B&Q and pick up a set of makita bits for €25 http://www.diy.com/departments/makita-3-65-mm-accessory-set-101-pieces/84233_BQ.prd

This will cover most DIY needs, then go to a hardware store and pick up a few good quality 5mm, 6mm, 8mm masonry bits.

Between both of these you will be sorted for most things around the house.
