Internal/external insulation

I'm currently starting a renovation process for a 1960's Cottage

I have had 3 builders out to look at the property, all 3 say internal insulation is best suited for the house. My architect/project manager is suggesting external insulation

Would there be any reason why builders would suggest internal over external?

    As above:
IWI is so much easier to do, even from a weather perspective.

before you decide on IWI or EWI you better have a pretty clear understanding of the floor and wall structure in the cottage as the wrong choice, of either, may lead to bigger problems down the line with mould IAQ and the like
Plenty on this forum which you can easily find using google advanced search with boards.ie as the domain.

ps are u replacing windows doors or is that already done?

My gut would say external but that is without knowing anything about your project. Is it detached? How much of a renovation process are you undertaking? What is the original construction method of your house? Have you any damp/condensation/mould already on the internal walls? BryanF is correct, most builders will say internal as they don't know anything about external. We got that a lot but persevered but we were effectively a new build, not a renovation. External is a specialist job and a little more expensive
