MF 290 with a back loader

I am looking at buying a MF 290 (2 wheel drive), I currently have a Zetor Crystal (2 wheel drive four cyclinder)

I have a back loader with a grab and when I used the back loader, in particular when I lifted the bale up higher, the crystal was inclined to rear, so I put weights on the front of the crystal which solved the problem to some extent.

Will the MF 290 be as heavy in the front as the crystal ie will it work the back loader with a bale on it

The 290 would be a good bit lighter in front than the crystal. A set of weights for the 290 would set u back 400 to 500 or around a euro per kg second hand.

I'd say a full set of 45kg which I think is 11 weights. Around 500kg altogether.

Depends on the weight of the bales but it should manage ok in general.
Its the law of the lever at work here.

It must be a decent back loader to lift a bale of silage, is it the fork lift type mast? If it is a fork lift type the bale will be closer to the tractor and you might get away with it on level concrete.

If the seat's wet, sit on yer hat, a cool head is better than a wet ar5e.

I understood it to be like one of those tanco or mckenna grabs, not the mast type.
There's one in operation not far from me.

its a self levelling one - think its a McKenna

would I be better off to get a 4 wheel drive instead and have the back loader on it - I'm sure it would work better on a 4 wheel drive
