Hmm.. may just take this as it doesn't appear to lock you into a new contract if you're an existing customer:
Half price Sky Sports, existing customers: Sky TV required. €37.50 per month after 6 months unless you cancel Sky Sports giving at least 31 days' notice. Further terms may apply.

Only applies if you aren't already availing of a promotion with sky. I have a tv, broadband, phone package at a discounted price and they wouldn't allow me take this sports offer.

If I already have the Sky Sports package, is there a workaround to get this deal?

Besides cancelling and signing up again?

You're right.. I have 2 months left on a deal and it won't allow this one too.

Oh well.. their loss. For €20 a month extra it would have been worthwhile, but not at nearly €40

Just signed up for it. No HD channels though?

    HD is extra with Sky

€10 extra for HD and Sky won't budge on it. Really it is a disgrace they are still charging for it. I was willing to go back to having Sky Sports but I just flat refuse to pay for HD. So, until they remove this ridiculous fee it is back to alternative methods.

They very much will. I'm paying €5 per month for it.

Whether you think HD is worth it or not, the box sets definitely are. And in fairness, sports is what benefits most from HD.

But if you're happy with "alternative methods", i.e. stealing it, then it's difficult for Sky to compete on price with zero.

My point/issue is that they are charging for HD at all still, be it €10 or €5, imo it is an excuse to drive up the price, but people pay so they will keep charging.

Personally I have no interest in box sets and don't feel I should have to pay for it or a whole raft of entertainment channels I have no interest in. Just my stand point.

By the way my 'alternative method' will be using a family members sky go (about as good as SD), call that stealing if you like. I'll likely be giving my €25 to Eir for Eir and BT sports.
