Been searching online and cant find solution. Have the Moto g 3rd gen 8gb.

Regular battle with the SD card mounting and dismounting but that's another story!

I have deleted all images/videos etc, the bigger apps like Spotify and my Podcast app, and deleted cache etc. I have cleanmaster and it says I have 72% storage used, and 61% ram used. But now everytime I go to take a photo, the message 'your internal storage is running out of space. Delete some images or other files'.
Would a factory reset fix all this?

I'm clueless when it come to this stuff.

    Hope someone can help?

Set your camera app to store photographs on the SD card, if you haven't already. :)

It doesn't give me the option to do that?

Thing is, things were absolutely fine until a couple of weeks ago. Doesn't even recognize sd card today, that's the second one I bought as the first was diodgey too.

If you do get a working SD card installed, and it's set as external storage...

Open the camera app, access the settings wheel, find the storage icon, click on it, you should see phone & SD storage as options.

The Moto G's can be fussy about memory cards.,

    Thanks curiosity.

Have you any other tricks to get the SD card in play? Constantly running out of internal memory, and my SD card is practically empty.

I have one here. I have the SD card set up as internal memory. Have no problem with disk space after that. Haven't worked out how to access it from the pc yet though. It was complaining about the speed of the card so I bought a faster one and will try that later..

Android really handles memory and cards very badly. It's the one thing Windows Mobile does really well. Of IOS solves it by not having SD cards.

Yw:). I have my SD card set to portable storage (I have the 2nd gen Moto G, also 8GB), so all I did was click on SD card settings, and follow the prompt to move media from internal memory to the SD card!

When I tried using my SD card for internal storage, my phone prompted me that my card wasn't best suited (a Sandisk UHS-I Class 10), so I went back to setting it as portable. I settled on deleting any sizable apps that I didn't use much, along with clearing the cache every few days.

Resorted to taking out the sd card and just making do with minimum apps, pain as I love podcasts etc. Was on my second San Disk Ultra 32gb chip too. Such a pain. I can try put it back in, and format it, but guarantee before day is out it wont work, plus have no way to transfer apps to it (always greyed out, or else the option doesn't come up)

Maybe theres a better SD suited?

(EDIT- tried putting mine back in there and it says: This device doesnt support this SanDisk SD card. Touch to set up in a supported format. )Pain in the butt.

You could download podcasts onto your computer and transfer to your SD card (portable storage setting)?

I did have a Samsung Memory 32 GB Evo MicroSDHC UHS-I Grade 1 Class 10 Memory Card in my phone, and had transferred a few apps to it when I was on Lollipop. That card died after about 10 months of usage.

The card in my phone at the moment is two years old.

...plus have no way to transfer apps to it (always greyed out, or else the option doesn't come up)....

You can't do that anymore in Android 6. You have to have the SD as internal storage to move apps to it. At least that how it seems to work on the 3rd gen we have.

I used a fast SD card, and it sill complained about it being slow. Perhaps that just a generic message and it doesn't actually check the speed of the card. The fast card is a lot fast loading apps though.

Only probably with using the SD card as the internal disk is getting music and photos on to it. I couldn't figure that out last time I tried. I must have another go this evening.

All these memory issue, really puts me off Android.

Thanks, least I know I'm not going crazy. Very frustrating.

The problem is not with the SD card, it's the phone and the problem appears to be caused by the fact that there is no gripper (locking mechanism) for the SD card as there is for the SIM. I've had that problem with three different good quality microSD cards. I was considering the Moto G4 as my next phone but can't handle that crap with the SD card so am going for a Samsung A3 instead, partly because it has NFC which I can use to topup my Leap card.

When I had memory problems updating apps, the solution was to go into apps and delete the Twitter cache but today I finally took a chance and in 'Storage', clicked on 'Cached data' and scrubbed the entire cache, the ceiling didn't fall in and I gained over 1GB of internal memory which will keep me going until the Samsung (16GB) arrives.
