From a Pathe newsreel early 20th century. Link to full film here.

View of Bachelors Walk from far side of O'Connell Bridge, probably shot from a rooftop. Can anyone identify the tall buildings on the skyline in the centre of the picture? Initially thought Jervis St. hospital but seems too far away and obviously on an elevated site.

Nope, but thanks for the Pathe link. You could try the OS map shop and the historic map viewer.

I'd say it is Jervis St Hospital. The dome to the right appears to be the one above Penney's on Mary St. You can see it here using Google 3D, peeking out above the shopping centre. It's probably just the perspective throwing off the perceived distance and elevation. https://goo.gl/maps/EEboEHUNXxH2

It is absolutely Jervis Street Hospital.

The wards were double height, on first, third, fifth and seventh floors. Thirty five years ago, I remember opening and closing windows with a very long pole. Even the ward on the first floor had a great view over the PMPA, now AXA.
Laboratories, offices, store rooms and so forth were on standard height floors at each end.

Apart from Liberty Hall it was probably the tallest building in the area.
