Forget the recent Primark rants on stage.

He said that people should put up Syrian Refugees in their homes and that he would...he never did.

He tells people outside of Ireland he came from a working class background...he comes from a posh Regency style street, went to Blackrock College (the Eaton of Ireland) and not the Ballymun Flats

He attacks Ireland for being backward and undemocratic...hob nobs with British and other royal bloodlines and aristocrats while wearing their medals

He actively campaigned against Brexit...but left Ireland for the UK because Britain was 'cooler' because it had the NHS, Beatles and Rolling Stones (all of which existed before the UK joined the EU)

He calls Irish politicians (gangsters) then continues to support a psychopathic war crminal called Tony Blair.

and I have only just touched the surface.

and please dont bring up Live Aid to absolve him. The effect of that effort is dubious at best and he kept the TV gear and started his own TV production company which made him millions off the event. Not to mention that his music career was over as everyone had figured out the Rats were a second rate showband who got lucky with punk starting.

2 threads on Geldof in 2 days - surely people have other more legitimate people to hate, rather than someone who actually made an effort to do something about a famine - forget corrupt politicians and greedy developers, not to mention bankers , and so many heinous sex scandals in Ireland - Im spending too much time on boards.

I bet you shook your Trocaire box with pride in the freezing rain as a lad while Eamon Casey was sliding his cock into that American bird in a swanky hotel room.

Nigel Farage really showed him up for the nasty piece of work he is. He out on the Thames criticizing Fishermen who have seen the EU plunder their livelihoods away to Spanish trawlers. Geldof should just disappear back into whatever hole he crawled out of.

I don't think he's a charlatan, I think he believes in what he says.

Unfortunately his ego won't allow him to realise he's more detrimental to the causes he supports.

    He has become toxic.

He wrote a few good songs, made some correct criticisms of Ireland back in the day, organised live aid, poor fella has had a sh1t time of it with his personal life, wife leaving him, daughter dying, no one deserves that, but somehow he still manages to seem like a cvnt which is quite an achievement when you think about it.

    Glazers Out!

He portrays himself as being a massive victim as if he had it hard in Ireland despite him going to Blackrock college meaning his family were obviously quite well off and he wouldn't have wanted for anything.

The thing that annoys him is that he never seemed to be called out for his bull**** when he would be on Irish TV, the hosts would indulge his claptrap.

Saying that" people in North Korea would like this freedom" is the same pompous self righteous western attitude that decided people in the middle east would love our democracy...now several wars and endless mayhem later it appears that no they dont really want the democracy they didn't ask for after all.
Its quite possible that the population of NK might actually feel the same way.

He's insufferable imo. I don't think he's a corrupt or deliberate nasty person. I think he just believes all the rubbish he comes out with - but he's so far gone in down the rabbit hole of self-indulgent pretentious crap that he doesn't realise what a hypocritical ass he really is. Ugh, the tripe he came out with on that Yeats programme was cringeworthy.

I'd take Bono a million times over - and that's really saying something.

Pompous for suggesting that a society might prefer to be able to elect a politician tthan have once forced on them like North Korea - a Dictator no less - how boards has changed where Dictators are lauded and people who try to do some good are sneered at as Charlatans - no wonder I haven't posted in here for ages - good luck -

He's neck in neck with Louis Walsh and Bono for Ireland's biggest c*unt. He's almost a caricature of a limousine liberal. Disingenuous, do-as-I-say-and-not-as-I-do kind of a guy.....

I think this is a good post.

His involvement in Brexit was absolutely toxic despite been brief a few weeks ago. I know he tried to defend the below image by saying it was aimed at Ngel solely and lets be honest most of us would tell Nigel to FO if we could:pac:

However it was absolute dynamite for leave and so easy to spin e.g "champagne socialist tells working class fishermen to **** off"

Even the most ardent remainers would admit it was a monumental own goal.

Gowl of a man, thinks he's some sort of rock god when in reality the boomtown rats were at best a mediocre band with a handful of notable songs, He hates Ireland he really does, thinks he's too good for the place and views it as a backwards kip, i honestly think he loves Britain far more then he does his own country loves the royal family and all the aristocratic nonsense, Pretends to be some rags to riches story who had to overcome all the odds to make it when in reality his background is one of privilege. A mediocre musician and a pretty ****e person who has used the misery of millions for his own ego and self interest and totally tried to dismiss the role of Midge Uhr in the entire thing, Fecking Ponce

Generally speaking, he does seem to be well-intentioned in what he is trying to say or do.

Although after the thick end of forty years in the public eye and interacting regularly with the media, to rub up so many people the wrong way every time he opens his mouth is hard to fathom.

He's the Eamon Dunphy of music. He roars and shouts and spouts all sorts of crap to keep himself in the headlines.

I actually think the man has mental problems possibly brought on by the years of rock & roll living catching up with him. He did a show around the time of the Rising centenary and by the end of it I felt the guy should be sedated because he was like someone who wasn't being looked after by his close ones and wasn't taking the medicine prescribed by his Doctor.

There's something definitely wrong with the man.

I'm fairly certain the vast majority of people in NK would rather live in a united democratic korea. NK was got no positives attributes, it a starving prison state that only exists due to Chinese intervention.

I'm fairly certain the vast majority of people in NK would rather live in a united democratic korea.
How can you claim to be certain of that? As far as we know, very few North Koreans understand life outside a totalitarian state, nor can most of them remember life before the war.

I remember a report where a North Korean tour guide proudly told the reporter of how the Leader distributes a certain amount of rice and cabbage every week to all homes. Then he inquired of the reporter how much rice and cabbage was distributed by the reporter's Leader? He seemingly had no understanding of capitalism or liberal democracy.

That's not to say that North Korea shouldn't be liberated. But personally, I doubt there is a major appetite in North Korea for liberal democracy. they probably don't know the first thing about liberal democracy, with the exception of a small number of military & political elites.

And for the sake of staying on topic, Bob Geldof should be made UN Special Envoy to North Korea, ideally stationed in Pyongyang at the pleasure of the Dear Leader.
