    Hey,

    I got a letter in June saying I'm eligible for the HEAR scheme. Im hoping to go to Maynooth in September and the orientation (Launchpad) for Access Students is late august as it said in the letter.

    I looked it up and it says it's residential meaning we MUST stay in campus accomodation. :/ I dont mind the activities bit but I'm a bit apprehensive about staying on campus. Can this be avoided? What is the accomodation like? I read somewhere everyone has their own room and I read somewhere else that you have to share a room? Are the rooms ensuite or does everyone share a bathroom? Are the apartments mixed or is there girls apartments and boys apartments?

    Other than that, whats the orientation like in general? What kind of activities is there?

    Terrified about this ;_;

    Thanks in advance for any replies

    First of all there's no need to be terrified. It's great opportunity to make some friends before you start uni! :)

    I did same orientation about 4 years ago so sorry about not going into much detail, hard to remember!

    I shared an apartment with 4 other people, 3 other students and your leader (mixed genders). Everyone has their own room and I'm pretty sure there was a shower in each too, then theres the living room and kitchen area. I don't think you can avoid staying on campus as it's part of the program though if you have issues with mixed apartments im sure you can call ahead and ask to be placed with your gender.

    Activity wise... Hmm sorry ive forgotten :P There was a schedule with different group orientated tasks and games to be played, nights out and so on. In between you could do what you want as long as it was on campus.

    Anyways, it'll be fine. Good luck and welcome to Maynooth University.

    Yeah I did, in my last year now. Im pretty sure there were separate showers, and if there was there shouldn't be any reason to why its there anymore. Again, a simple call should clear things up :)
