High handicapper but analysing my game over last couple of weeks reckon as a high handicapper Im as good as Rory, DJ, Jordan et al and heres why

Watched Rory hit his drive probably about 50 yards right into crowd and unplayable lie in deep rough.
Last week I hit a perfect drive down middle of fairway leaving myself a simple 8 iron to green.
(Rory misses this once in 100 shots... I hit it 1 in 100)

DJ played a par 5 recently and 3rd in the bunker..took him two to get out and three putted
I played a par five yesterday and was just off green in 4 chipped to 4 ft and got my bogie
(DJ does this once in 100 ...I play like that 1 in 100)

Bubba had a three foot putt and somehow missed it...shaved the hole.
I was out last week and on twelfth had an uphill putt of about 40 ft. Read it well and sank the putt.
( Bubba misses putts like this once in 100...I sink putts like mine once in 100)

Ernie had a bunker shot and took forever to get out....I played today and got out of trap to 2 feet
( Ernie is over it now and will probably get out 99%.....me ? sometimes.

Moral really is that us high handicappers can be just as good as the pros on at least a few holes....as long as long as they have the odd nightmare and we have the odd playing out of our skin day`

Ok Points taken....maybe not a great idea for a thred...just thought it might have opened a few comments about some of your great shots that th pros might not have taken on or made and that maybe you had

It's an interesting discussion and one I'd like to add to by telling a little anecdote.....

The club I was a member of in the UK had a really good pro, as in he was a solid player, but brilliant at coaching, conceiving and running comps etc.

One evening, as you do, we were having a few beers and discussing the difference between, a club golfer and a pro. Anyway, the discussion wandered back and forward when the pro arrived in and his opinion was sought - consistency aside, he reckoned that the margin between a pro and an ordinary golfer on any given day was narrower than you might think.

To illustrate the point, he arranged for us to play as a group the next morning with him. At the start of the round he gave us each 15ft of string......this was 'free distance' - we could use it any time we wanted without penalty, so,if you wanted on the 1st tee you could take your shot 15ft closer to the hole and use up all your free distance or you could use it throughout the round.

So if you got a bad lie, you could move the ball a couple of feet to a better one, cut 2 feet from your string and play your next shot. Likewise, if you were within a foot of the hole you could claim the ball as sunk and trim off the distance needed to make it so; didn't fancy a bunker shot? Use your free distance to get out before playing your shot etc

Anyway, at the end of the round I think we all finished within about 2/3 shots of the pro and most us had string left!!
