Sure if someone is watching it, they have already figured out how to install saorview.

It is to give some semblance of use to an otherwise waste of bandwidth.

It could be useful for a TV shop to show potential users what Saorview is all about - five years too late.

You might as well ask about how series link used to work on non-approved equipment. How many Saorview approved PVR's are there ?

Or about the 20 channels on Saorsat.
In addition to the RTE and TG4 channels and a test-card there's lots of empty channels with a bit rate higher than some UK ad-channels use. On Saorview they might use the excuse about LCN or whatever, but not it's like there's a glut of Saorsat approved satellite receivers out there. Though in fairness, unlike the UK they don't hide the EPG.

Test card might be handy for someone in the trade, but nowadays most laptops and TVs have HDMI.

There are lots of hidden and dark aspects to the operation of Saorview that can only be explained by the existence of a commercial interest that is always denied.

2RN claim to have no commercial interest in approval of sets, yet they appear to adjust the Saorview signal to render non-approved equipment unusable or to have degraded performance. You cite series-link but LCN numbers, 38 blank headers, SSU channels in position one on the mux, - all degrade certain aspects of non-approved sets.

It cannot be a coincidence that so many sneaky tricks are all in play.
