I'm replacing a double light switch with a double dimmer switch.

this is in the living room in my apartment, also replacing a light switch for the kitchen off the room.

the kitchen switch should be fine as its like for like
However the double light switch is confusing me.

there are 4 brown wires coming into the switch.
Also there are 4 earth wires coming in (they are connected to each other so I presume they are fine as is)

with the other 4 wires I presume I need to connect to
    Dimmer 1
    C1 & L1

    Dimmer 2
    C1 & L1

Is there a specific way to identify which brown wires where?

Take a photo of the back of the switch as it is and put it up somewhere

I'll take some pics and post them shortly.

I was just going to put back the original switch and possibly get my brother in law to knock over tomorrow.

On the original switch (not the dimmer)

    C -> C

    Individual brown wires into L1, L2 & L1 L2

    Is that correct?

Are the wires paired to in/out.
    they all look the same.

    Yes they are in pairs.
Sounds like they are two way with another switch

So I managed to figure out the story with the wires...

    I placed a bridge between COM1 and COM2
The placed the 4 brown wires in the [L1, L2] [L1,L2]

when the power was turned back on I was able to determine the function of each of the brown wires by using the switches individually and in combination. fortunately the live wire was in one of the L2 slots which left it easy to identify.

1 - Wall, 1 Ceiling, 1 Kitchen and the Live

Knowing this and allowed me to rewire with the dimmer switch in the correct way.

    Live into COM1
    Bridge from COM1 > COM2
    Kitchen out from COM2
    Wall into L1
    Ceiling into the other L1

All is working fine, thanks for the assistance earlier.
