Car with 3 rear seats and roof box

    Hi

Can anyone help me with above.

I would like the car to be able to take a roof box and not go over 2m. That rules out all suv types. Also have a ball hitch.

3 rear seats would be ideal. Alternatively the airbag could be turned off in the passenger seat.

Ideally car tax would be in and around €300.
I realise that means going for a newer car as anything 4 years or older has crazy car tax.

    Thanks

The road tax rates were changed in 2008!

When you day you want three rear seats. Do you want a rear seat with three seat belts(a traditional rear seat) or do you want three individual seats?

3 individual seats so an adult could sit comfortably in the middle with a full seat belt.

    Maybe a Ford C-Max!

    Aren't they 7 seaters?
I would prefer a separate boot.

Also I would prefer petrol as it wouldn't be doing a huge amount of mileage.

From what I know the C-Max has five seats and the Grand C-Max has seven seats!

I have given a look at donedeal. I guess a 7 seater could be an option as kids' bikes could be stored easily enough.

I would be a bit concerned taking kids in the back of them as a rear impact would be pretty dangerous as very back seats are right against the window but I guess plenty of people use them.
It might also be handy to take cousins in the car etc.

Looking online it is mostly diesels. Are these modern diesel cars ok with little weekly mileage?

I was just looking at the five seater Ford C-Max and the seats might be a bit tight.

The VW Touran has decent enough seats in the middle row. Remember if you do buy a seven seater you can just fold the seats away.
There's also the Honda FR-V. Theirs three seats in the front and three in the back.
Petrol versions of these cars started to slip around 2008 when the government changed the tax laws.
    What's your budget?

I am not sure on the budget yet. I have an old car that is doing the job and passed nct recently but fella advised that rust underneath would fail in future. So looking ahead.

Part of me wants to get something under 6 years but would need to do that possibly on HP and we would have the car for the next 10 years possibly.

But it possibly wouldn't be doing a whole amount of mileage so don't want to waste money on it especially with young kids messing in it.

The back seats that fold down - would it be easy to put bikes into it and not dirty it etc.
Also can modern diesels be left idle for long?

The other half wants to be between kids in the back seat as easier to feed or tend to them.

Some estate type cars might suit us better if they had the 3 back seats.

The new Ford C-Max from mid 2011 onwards was a 5 seater but a 7 seater was also available and this was called the Grand C-Max.
