Why update bios on Dell running Ubuntu?

So I picked up an old Dell laptop and have installed Ubuntu 16.04 on it.

The bios on the machine is from 2009. I see that there was a series of updates released up to 2013.

I'm not having any problems [yet], is there any point or expected performance boost to updating?
