    Hello,

I am thinking of renting out my parking space in my apartment and am wondering:

    1. Should I draft up a formal agreement between myself and the person renting?
    2. If the renter scratches the car next to it or dumps rubbish on the spot etc. - who is liable?
    3. Anything else I should watch out for?

    Kieran

Check that it's permitted by the managment company!

Thanks for the reply. If they allowed it - what would the answers to the above questions be?

    Thanks,

    K

    1. Should I draft up a formal agreement between myself and the person renting?
    A. Yes, always advisable. Simple and to the point. Days and times they are allowed to use the spot. Respect to other residents. Protection of key fob and who pays if it breaks. Date of each month that payment has to be made.
    2. If the renter scratches the car next to it or dumps rubbish on the spot etc. - who is liable?
    A. That's a civil issue between the car that has been scraped and the person that done it. You should not be liable, but you should ensure they hold a current insurance policy incase their car goes on fire and damages cars around it or similar.
    3. Anything else I should watch out for?
    A. Scam artists. As per renting anything, ensure payment is received in advance etc
