Getting involved in Motorsports - Behind the Scenes!

I'd like to get involved in some of the 'behind the scenes' activities with one of the Irish racing series (Formula Vee, Irish Sports Cars, etc). would many of the series in Ireland have committees or take on volunteer help? I have experience in web development and digital marketing so my services would be best put to use helping to promote a series, build an online presence etc.

Is anyone here involved in similar 'behind the scenes' roles? Or can anyone recommend people I could contact about this? Any information is appreciated!

I suppose the problem with amature motorsport is that it's so expensive that people may not have money left over to be paying for things like websites and graphics.

If you're just looking for experience and want to use an interesting sport to develop that experience then I suppose it would just be worth going to a meet, or event, or tournament and just talking to a few people and seeing what they'd need. It seems all types of motorsport clubs in Ireland seem to be a fairly tight nit group, so once you get in with one you'll have access to everyone.

Mondello are always looking for marshalls if that's something you might be interested in?

To be honest it probably isn't the route I'd like to go, but thanks for the suggestion!

Yeah I can imagine finances are tight. Any services I'd offer are purely on a volunteer basis, as I assume is the case for most comittee members of the different racing series?

I was planning to go to the next Irish Sports Cars meeting. It was tough enough just to get that information online! But it looks like they dont have a race meeting again until mid September. I just think someone like me with a decent level of experience of Digital Media could help bring a series to a wider audience.

The next race meeting is August 14th in Mondello Park.

Drop down and speak to a few of the guys.

Do you know what racing series' will be involved on the 14th August?

Also is it easy enough to get access to the pit areas, meet the people involved in the organisation of each discipline?

If you're willing to work for free I'm sure plenty of people or amature series would love to have someone spruce up their image.

It's a good idea, if you're going to work for free to build a portfolio a racing series offers more interesting content than generic business number 56.

Even a basic wordpress website would give them an interactive hub to work through.

Its on the Mondello website, ITCC, Fiesta ST and a few single seater classes.

No problem with paddock access, it's an open paddock format so anyone can access the garages / teams for a good look around.
