    Hi all,

I had a Mk1 Granada in the early 2000's, but at the time I had to sell it :-( . I am just courious did it survive etc. Have I any way of telling? Check if it's taxed or declared off the road etc. I remember the reg.

If it's still in the tax system it'll be found on any of the reg checking sites like cartell or mywheels

Yes both those sites recognise the reg, do that mean it is taxed or has been in recent years?

    Yes.

Look up the reg in this link - it might tell you more info.
Also look up motortax.ie - it will tell of any 'change of ownership in the last three months'...

Put the reg and description up here, it's possible someone on the forum has seen it, or knows he current owner.

Also get involved with a Ford club, online or otherwse and see if anyone there knows about it.

Just wondering was it still on the go...

The guy that bought it in about 2002 2003 nearly sure was from Wexford. It was a 1976 Mk1 Granada 2.0 GL, dark blue in colour, blue interior with a leather roof, an original Irish car, reg no PCI 714. I don't have a pic it was before phones had cameras and the buy and sell was the donedeal of its day....

So, my first car still exists on these sites.
Does that mean it has been active recently or just that there is a record of it. I haven't seen it in 25 years since trading it in.

No, if a reg is recognised, it just means that was taxed at least once in the computerised reg system, which was introduced in 1993, but it might be anywhere now - scrapped/exported/off the road, or still being taxed and driven daily.
If it isn't recognised at all, it means that it was never taxed after 1992 (but it still might exist in a museum/shed/ditch).

Actually, my brother bought an original Irish car (89-D-nnnn) about 2005 - it was low mileage, and the seller said that it had had an engine issue, and had been laid up for a long time. Before he got the new reg document back from Shannon, the Gardai pulled him over, saying that the reg had come back as "not found" on their ANPR - it turned out that the car hadn't been taxed since before 1992. Shannon couldn't find it on the system (not surprisingly), so he had to take the car and log book to the VRO office to have it verified and manually entered onto the system. All was fine after that.

I went looking for my old red Jetta Mk1 28 WZL about 4 years ago. Its still on the system and according to a nice motor tax guy, its last registered address was in Shrule, Co Galway but that's as far as I got.

I've been trying to trace our old family car as well. 29EIM
This is the My Wheels report on it. Doesn't look well I think....

Last Date of Sale: 07 Sep 1994
Motor Tax Expiry Date: 29 Feb 1996
NCT Expiry Date: 22 Jun 2000

I thought it may have been a victim of the scrappage scheme but it says it hasn't been scrapped.

There is a vintage club in Shrule, maybe put something on their Facebook page or email them.....if they put the word out someone would remember it from the area!
