France’s CNIL has issued instructions to Windows 10 users on how to minimise the theft of personal information by Microsoft from Windows 10 installations.

CNIL contends that Microsoft is collecting excessive information, data which is not necessary for the functioning of the product/service. This is in breach of French and EU regulations – one is still waiting for a response from dozy Brussels on this. The “Safe Harbor” no longer exists. It would appear that Microsoft is transferring data, illegally to the US. France has given Microsoft three months to comply.

It seems that Brussels has given Microsoft a lifetime to comply, given the lack of action on their part, and the relatively short shelf life of software versions.
