There should really be a thread about this.

Into day 3 now of the 6 day event. I've a particular soft spot for multi eventing so I'll kick things off with that. Elizabeth Morland got off to a good start in the heptathlon this morning. 13.84 (+1.7) in the 100m hurdles for 1001 points, followed by 1.68m in the high jump for 830 points. She currently lies 9th overall on 1831, just 14 points down on where she was after 2 events when she set the Irish senior record earlier this summer. Shot Putt and 200m this evening.

Eurosport have live coverage of all evening sessions.

Michaela Walsh set a junior record when qualifying for the shot final. She reached the shot and hammer finals at last year's world youths, so that must be satisfying progress.

Adam King also broke the junior record in the men's hammer (6kg) and qualified for the final. The other hammer thrower, Owen Russell, just failed to qualify for the final and he holds the junior record with the senior hammer (7.26kg). It's good to have some up and coming field eventers battling each other and hopefully improving the standards a lot.

Was a good start to the week too. Both Louise Shanahan and Carla Sweeney qualified for the semis in the 800m

Jenna Bromell qualified for the 400m semis too. Mollie O'Reilly missed out but ran a PB

That's very disappointing. She had the potential to go top 8.

Thebe from Botswana looks a serious prospect in the 400m. Challenger for James in a few years?

Disqualified for stepping on line. Jaysus tough.

I'll never for the life of me understand why some sprinters don't dip. It's such a fundamental error and so many do it. Jessica Thornton lost a bronze medal in the 400 for that reason this evening.

Adam King updated his day old national junior record while finishing 11th in the hammer.

Sarah Lagger, who only managed silver in the European youths' Heptathlon last week, won gold in the World juniors this week!

The women missed the national record by 0.01 in the 4x1 heats, but they have another shot in the final.

Totally missed the fact that the men broke the 4x1 record, although they missed the final. Good job, generally, in these championships (and the youths' last week). People are breaking junior records and qualifying for finals.

It augurs well for their future careers.

5th place and a national junior record for the women's 4x1 team, which is brilliant considering the team has three 17 year-olds and a 16 year-old.

Jaysus that's savage running . Less than 1 second off the national record and all still u 18. Gives us some hope for the future. One of them was 3rd in 100 hurdles u18 euros last weekend and another 2nd in the 100.
