Just interested to find out from any golfer who has played both courses, which of the two they prefer.

On balance I'd prefer the West, not really sure why, its possibly a bit more dramatic and interesting. Not that the East is a bad course by any means.
On a bad weather day the East is probably more enjoyable !

I only played each course once. Both are very enjoyable, really good courses, but I have a preference for the West course.
Perhaps its more appealing because of the views from the top of the course, I don't know, I just enjoyed it more than the East course.

My work society have played the West in 2014 and the East in 2015. I preferred the West, but i did get better weather that day.

    I prefer the East.

The West is more scenic, but some of the greens are over-sloped IMO, so much so that they can only put the pin in 2 or 3 positions (eg 7th, 14th, 16th, 17th). If you're not putting well on the West, then goodnight.

That said, I like both. I'm a member there, great having two courses to alternate between.

I played East at the beginning of the summer and I was really impressed, thought it was a lovely course. Haven't tried West yet.

I have played both on many occasions and while I enjoy the older Peter Mc Evoy designed East course, I think the newer West course is the better challenge ..... purely because of the difficulty of the greens and approach shots. Its a close call and both are quality courses, the 17th on the East being one of my favourite holes in golf.

Played both a few times but probably best part of 10 years ago so couldn't recall to much about them till recently where boards society played the east and I got to know the west a good bit with the Pierce Purcell recently.

My vote is for the west, perhaps skewed in that I was out on it 4 times and only on the east once. I also played like an aul one on the east! :) Honestly though, west might be slightly tougher overall and definitely has better views by far.

Interesting to see my vote for the west has just tipped it ahead of the east...... But early days I'm guessing.

I've played both probably 5/6 times and I'd say I prefer the west.

There is more change in elevation which makes for some very interesting holes and there are some superb elevated tee shots with the hole layed out below you - greens can be very challenging though

Played both a good few times and much prefer the West, find it more interesting with good variety of holes.

Played these courses yesterday, not even close, although the East has some nice hols the West is IMHO a way better course, better conditioning for a start, the East was parched in places with bare spots and a busy feel playing alongside the road and practice area and back to the clubhouse, the West had an isolated feeling from the word go and only when on the 18th green did you feel you were back off the wilderness and every inch of the fairways, greens and bunkers were in sublime condition.

Interesting. Haven't played either recently but always felt the East was the "real" course on the better land and the West a bit of an afterthought with tricked up greens. But I see a good few votes for the West so its a matter of taste.

Surprised that there would be such variation their condition.
