I'll need to hire a car for few days in Galway. Could anyone suggest a reasonably cheap car rental in town? Thanks!

    Enterprise.
Will collect you from your home/hotel/wherever and are usually very good value.
Have used them several times myself.

Try booking thru www.arguscarhire.ie - you'll get better rates from Budget or Europcar than going direct, if you book in advance.

    Otherwise Enterprise.

Depending on the days and your needs, one trick is to choose a small van rather than a car. At some times of the year, van rates are cheaper. (Be aware that motorway tolls are higher - this may matter dependiing on where you are going.)

I usually use Budget on the square, easy to walk to.

Good advice. Also try these two aggregators in addition to Argus.

Be aware that one of the major chains operating in Galway city centre can be a bit sneaky and quote a price for one category of car but try to give you a lower category on the day (trying to pretend a four door Opel Astra is the same category as the "Ford Mondeo/Opel Insignia/Toyota Avensis or similar" that had been quoted for example). I came up against that a few times so I started printing out quotes for the next lowest category at the time of ordering and demanding to be refunded the difference if they tried to pull that trick. That generally worked in getting the car I'd booked.
