Can a motor insurance company refuse to cover indemnity on a third party claim if the insured has made no attempt to contact them? Basically other car hit me, I notified insurance and went to claim off his, he has not contacted his insurance and they have said if he does not within a certain time frame they will be advising me to chase him directly. I tried contacting him to sort but was told where to go...

First, you need to know whether his insurance company can refuse to indemnify. You will need legal advice to answer that question and you may also need advice about notifying the Motor Insurers' Bureau of Ireland (MIBI). It isn't appropriate to deal with these issues here.

Secondly, this is a request for legal advice. The consequences of getting incorrect advice could be problematic. Therefore, this thread must be closed.

I'd suggest that you should see a solicitor.
