Very interested in applying. I have read the Campaign Information document and no leaving certificate is mentioned just -
Candidates must possess the requisite knowledge and ability, including a high standard of suitability, for the proper discharge of the duties of the office.

Does anyone know how long the training runs for?

14 weeks training. That's inclusive of classroom, supervised mentoring and unsupervised mentoring.

Thet have now advertised this internally for existing clerical officers in the HSE. Possibly didnt have the response from the public campaign as hoped.

Have applied for this again this year after failing one part of the interview last year by 5 points although I appear to have excelled in the other parts. Fingers crossed this time.

Is anyone on here who completed the test last week? I had difficulty with the practice in that it stopped after one plus line and just hung not going forward or backward after only 50 seconds had elapsed.

whats driving taking on new people, guess people leave or retire.

The massive number of staff leaving.

The massive number of staff leaving.

Staff advancing to other roles eg ico/paramedic ect or just leaving due to dislike ofor conditions/job itself?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 57 ✭✭Torpedo

    Ok thanks.

Is the plan still to move all calls to nas? Hasn't been mentioned recently.

It will probably be similar to the DFB interview I had in July

Hi I would love to work in this area.
Would anyone know would i be considered if I applied should they hold another recruitment drive if I have a spent conviction (which is over 11 years old).
I applied to work in the hse years ago and was turned down because of the conviction so would be apprehensive to get through all the stages and be turned down on the last hurdle.
    Any advice greatly appreciated. 😊

If you panelled, it is perfectly normal to not hear anything until jobs become available. For some people, they waited on panels for a year or two.

So expressions of interest came! 6 with 19 hours and 4 with 32 hours? Seems odd but oh well - put in for both, hopefully it's actually for our panel and not the older, I'm low enough on panel to get the positions if one or two people for Donegal only are ahead so!

19 hours is only part time. Think long and hard if you can afford it before you formally accept.

I know it's only part time but with my current job it would be easy to work around and would mean I could gain experience and possibly be brought up into full time staff if a gap arises - that's not the question I want answered anyway

Are these jobs only being advertised to this new panel or does it include the one formed in 2015. If it included 2015 then it's unlikely I'll get a position. The HSE website does state panels are 'typically' a year then cancelled so I am curious about that. I'll have to ask in the old thread I suppose

Fairly certain all ya need is your hearing test, and if you were glasses an eye test, along with your declaration.

Hi there. I got on the panel for ballyshannon & we have to wait now until a position becomes available. I asked for my updated panel number when we were joined in with the existing panel & I was told that info won't be available until there is a live expression of interest when vacancies arise 🙈 We have to wait I'm afraid.

Play the waiting game. Some people in previous classes were on the panel for over a year so don't feel so bad.

What are they? CPL contacted a mate who's on the current panel about the above, saying there call taker roles starting in September, non permanent but money is the same. They told her when her panel place comes around that she would be able to switch from the temp role to permanent that apparently "lots have done this before"

Shes a bit skeptical and was going to call manorhamilton about it. Strange why they have a panel of 100+ at present following a recent recruitment, and only recently advertised a handfull of positons (8/10) for training in tallaght starting in October, but yet CPL come along a few weeks later and are looking for people to start in September?!? Doesn't make much sense

The positions are for taking calls for patient transfers and discharges. There's been people give up their place on the panel for these cpl positions and shot themselves in the foot.

So just PTS/ICV desk? She was lead to believe differently, that she would have a "head start" on her panel position and would just go permanent once that came around. Obviously it's in the agencys interest to try get you in as they are likely commission based, but they should at least fill you in exactly as to what the role entails.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 458 ✭✭Parapara2017

Says these roles are only for 4 months anyway.

There are cpl staff not far from becoming emergency call takers because they applied (again) and were panelled like everyone else....but they lost their spot on the last panel when they took the cpl job
