    Hi folks,

Now that eFlow will be no good for me on the M1 from the end of August I'm wondering what company is best after eFlow?

I work in Dublin 1 day a week so it's not excessive use but I'd still prefer to have a tag that isn't going to end up costing me more than cash..

    Cheers,
    mcquaim

Which plan do you go with?

The Toll+ sounds handier as it doesn't involve having to remember to top-up all the time?

I don't know about the Toll+. I signed up a few years ago with the pay as you go system and I'm still on it. You can chuck as much as you like into it and it'll send you a text when you're running low.

there's another thread on this, someone posted this up,

"Is this the same company? irishexaminer.com/ireland/cork-city-council-phone-in-parking-scheme-deficient-322481.html

Not sure I'd be giving them over my cash...got to be another choice"

It's worth a read on Parkmagic

That's got to do with parking and Cork Council. Not sure what that's got to do with tolls mate. Whatever issue there is between the two it doesn't interfere with paying your toll.

Is eFlow closing down, or whats the deal ? Not much point in a tag that doesnt work.

Is there any index of the alternatives that will provide the full coverage ?

Will stop working on the roads below from 31 August

    • M7/M8 (Portlaoise – Castletown/Portlaoise – Cullahill)
    • N25 (Waterford City Bypass)

It's probably a personal thing, I like to put my business with companies who are upfront, and that made me pause. The issue was the same company withholding money that wasn't theirs, and I'd try to avoid that myself.

Can't argue with that Craig. You're probably right.

Personally I'm going to stay with eFlow until much closer the date and work out my options then. There's every chance this will be ironed out seeing as there's apparently no reason for it in the first place

This is Ireland. People will only get out of bed if they make an absolute killing. Simply making lots of money isn't good enough, so they will throw their toys out of the pram and close down the company. They might have to live on the millions they have squirreled away somewhere safe. Burning customers, contractors, employees and suppliers at the end is called the Celtic Tiger Bonus.
And then re-open, conditional on a large state handout and take it once more from the top...

I use essytrip and have done for a few years. Costs a bit over a euro a month to have the tag (i have 2). I have it set to auto top up if the balance drops below €30. Works on all the toll roads (that i know of) and also in parkrite car parks, which can be handy too. Some people won't like the pay in advance optin, but it works for me and I very rarely use toll roads, or private parking. I could go a few months before it tops me up by 20

I was just having a look at the ParkMagic Website, the sign up options are follows.

    Pay As You Toll
    LIGHT

    No Monthly Charges
    No Deposit
    Topup-Nationwide
No Credit or Debit Card required
    €4.40 of free credit

It says "No Deposit" but I pay €30 upfront, they put €4.40 (random) credit on, which means they are keeping €25.60? Isn't that a fecking deposit? Or do they just state "No Deposit" so they can keep the money and hide behind the T&C's?

    Second option

    Pay As You Toll+
    MEDIUM

    No ongoing fees or charges
    Automatically Topped-up
    No usage no fee
    €20.00 of free credit
    View Details...

It wasn't until I looked into the "View Details" bit that I noticed that it completely contradicts the first line of "No ongoing fees or charges". They charge you 10% on top of the toll EVERY TIME you use it! That's an ongoing charge in my book.
Shouldn't that be a bit more upfront and not hidden in the small print???
And how do I get €20 free credit when I have to pay €40 up front?
Isn't that just them keeping my other €20? Where would that €20 go to??? "No usage, no fee" what about the €20? It says that there is a low balance of €12, so that leaves €8? Why don't I get €28 free credit and €12 low balance for my €40???

Doesn't seem very upfront to me?

The last option is straight up, pay €40, €20 is credit and €20 is a refundable deposit. The first two just look very odd to me.

Something very odd about that ParkMagic site. Even the wording in the terms and conditions is just too much.
