Im on a limited budget. Very difficult but important decisions needed. What would be the top options .ie safest bets for a reliable car for under 6k? I would do roughly 300 km weekly. Bit of space needed for a young un. Am considering avensis petrol 1.6 or perhaps mondeo or almera Open to all suggestions! Thanks in advance.

Avensis or Mondeo for that sort of money. Almera is from the class below like a Focus or Corolla but even at that the Almera is outdated and wasn't class leading when it was launched in 2000.

If you're willing to look at an Almera size car then look at the Kia Ceed or Hyundai i30 1.4 litre petrol, very reliable and 1.4 is nippy too. Both cars are pretty much the same mechanically.
