    Hi

Also depends on what course she will be doing ? Will she need media editing capability (graphic-music) or just word-processing(MS Office))

have a look at these links and price around for the best deal
    link http://www.laptops4students.ie/
    or http://www.pcworld.ie/Product/acer-aspire-f5571-156-laptop-black/328997/396.0.0
    http://www.laptopsdirect.ie/st/refurbished-laptops

Choose processer eg i5, Ram 4-8GB, Storage 250GB - 2TB, Screen Size (portable or deskbound)

    She is going to need
    - MS Office Student edition
    - Antivirus software (I prefer Norton, but McAfee seems to be on all the bundles).

    Size/Weight
Is she going to be carrying in/out of College or will it be mostly be in her room (home/flat)? So a good bag will be needed.

    Security
50% of all student laptops get stolen/lost or damaged in year 1 so perhaps consider having to purchase 2 x laptops over the 3/4 year programme.

Refurbished Laptops - worth considering (based on above)
