    Question 1: My tenants haven't registered with Irish water. Where is the liability if any now? Do I need them to register now?

    Customers are liable for charges up to the end of March 2016.

    New law requires owners of dwellings to notify Irish Water of the names of the occupiers, with whom they have an agreement, and the start date of the agreement within 20 working days of it coming into effect. If the information is not provided within 20 working days, the owner is liable for water charges up to the date they do provide the information.

    Question 2: Can I claim the money back for the bills I have paid?

    We can confirm that any decisions regarding refunds to customers will be made by the government and not by Irish Water.

    Question 3: I never received any correspondence from Irish Water and have not registered. Am I still liable for charges although they are suspended?

    Customers that have a connection to the public water and/or wastewater mains would of been liable for charges before the suspension of water bills.

    We can certainly look into this matter, would you mind providing the following details via private message:

    - Name;
    - Address; and
    - Contact Number.

    Question 4: Are Irish Water responsible for road drainage?

    Irish Water are responsible for the up keep and maintenance of the public water and wastewater mains infrastructure. If you query is in relation to road drainage, we would advise contacting the Roads Department of your Local Authority, who would be better equipped to assist you.

    Question 5: How do I know if I am connected to the public water mains and I would like to know the quality of my water. Can you help?

    We would be happy to look into this for you. Would you mind confirming the following details via PM:

    - Name;
    - Address; and
    - Contact number.
