Looking for a Japanese SEGA Mega Drive Model II

I briefly mentioned on a thread here that I wanted to get a Japanese Mega Drive, I've researched and discovered the Mega Drive Model 2. I then went to look for an unboxing video just to get a better look at it before I go buying one.

(You don't have to watch the video but it's for reference)

Problem is, according to some people in the comment-section on that video, that console shown is "fake" and not a genuine one (someone even pointed out that it came with incorrect video cables) but to me it looked pretty accurate, so here's my question:

Would someone be able to point out a genuine Japanese Mega Drive Model 2? There are loads on eBay but I have an itchy finger and don't want to click "buy" until I'm full sure it's proper (By which it will play NTSC-J games, as intended)

    I'm looking at
    This One
    This One
    and
    This One

The aforementioned video - in the comments, people are saying that it was designed for PAL countries in Asia - obviously I'm looking for Japanese games to play so I decided to come here and ask for general directions so as I don't make a daft decision, unless I'm over thinking it?

Sorry for over-explaining myself I'm just being cautious, after all it's a lot of money I'm looking to spend here :P

P.S. I would much, much prefer to buy it boxed with the cables etc. Unboxed is a last resort.....

Thanks to anyone who can help, sorry for being a nuisance...

Don't know if those are fake or not but seems like a lot of cash to drop on a Megadrive.

If you main criteria is to play NTSC-J games then any (cheap) PAL console can be modded to play them, but if you specifically want a JAP console then that's a different matter :)

Yeah it's specifically the console I really want to get. I know I can mod my own to play such games but I want to build a fresh collection, console included.

Japanese Megadrive games tend to be insane money...you might live to regret going NTSC-J for the Megadrive :o

Money isn't a problem for me for the next couple of months so I'm going to take advantage. I have a good few games bookmarked and I have a budget written out so that I don't skin myself every week.

But in regards to the three I'm looking at, are they genuine?

Buy from a Japanese ebay seller. I bought my MD1, N64 and SFC from yamotaku-classic on ebay. THe postage is not bad and they always seem to have consoles listed for auction. You should be able to get one for a decent price.

Some sellers will either not know or lie if they are selling a 50hz Asian model and call it Japanese (60hz). I believe the ebay sellers in Hong Kong and Thailand are generally selling 50hz Asian model. Beware. :)

Aye, the video I threw up on the original post - the guy said he ordered it from Thailand (a piece of info I didn't catch until about 10 minutes ago, actually) which is where more confusion started.

Thanks, I will have a browse through his shop & see what he has.

(By the way, it's kind of typical you spoke to me here, as I just finished Revenge of Shinobi for the first time last week :P (your name))
